London-based Ghanaian Stunt group, Fanti Acrobats has bemoaned the lack of respect for their craft and other related talents.
In an interview with JoyNews’ Becky, the group made up of Alhassan and Ismailia said they had to relocate to the UK because of the clear disregard and disrespect for their craft by Ghanaians.
“This is our profession, we dance, and we do acrobats and entertain people. Back home in Ghana, we use to perform at national theater, travel, and play at different big carnivals.
“In Ghana, they don’t respect what we do, they even call us vagabonds. But here in London we perform and make a lot of money out of it,” they told E-vibes.
They added, “Not to brag but the platforms we get to showcase our talent, musician Sarkodie or Shatta wale never get the same stage and opportunities as we got.”
The duo further noted that the Ghanaian entertainment industry must make a conscious effort to support each other genuinely.
“We have to help each other as an industry. That’s what we lack and we must work on that thoroughly and stop the pull him down and selfish attitude if we want to get somewhere.”
E-Vibes is a weekly program that delves into the background of celebrated personalities who are doing tremendous work in their chosen field; cutting across the various sectors.
