Women in Film, Television and Media Ghana (WiFT Ghana) successfully launched its organization during “The Evolution Workshops,” a one-day training and mentorship program held at Jambo Spaces in Accra.
The event brought together creatives, industry experts, and aspiring professionals for a day of skill-building and collaboration.
The workshop offered free training for women in the creative industry, reinforcing WiFT Ghana’s mission to empower and equip women with the knowledge, tools, and networks needed to succeed in the film and creative industries.
The program began with the official launch of WiFT Ghana, during which President Juliet Ibrahim introduced the organization’s vision and long-term goals of strengthening women’s participation and leadership across film, television, and digital media. She also encouraged women across the industry to register and become active members of the growing WiFT Ghana community.

The event featured a keynote session by Sonia Ibrahim, actor, entrepreneur, and licensed therapist, who spoke on “Mental Health in the Creative Arts.”Her presentation addressed the importance of maintaining emotional wellbeing while navigating the demands of the entertainment and creative industries.
Participants then attended a series of practical masterclasses led by respected professionals in the industry. Topics covered included financial literacy and content monetization, acting fundamentals, the business of acting, cinematography and photography, and the use of artificial intelligence for creatives.
The workshop concluded with a session on branding and personal development led by Juliet Ibrahim, which focused on helping creatives position themselves strategically within the industry.
The event was also graced by several notable personalities from Ghana’s entertainment industry, including veteran actress Pascaline Edwards, musician Mzbel, actress Charlotte Derban, media personality and actress Akuapem Poloo, and filmmaker Michael Brako, who attended to support the initiative and encourage participants.
In addition to the training sessions, attendees had the opportunity to network with industry leaders, engage in media interactions, and build professional connections during a sponsored networking break supported by The Northern Bazaar.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Juliet Ibrahim emphasized that the launch of WiFT Ghana marks the beginning of a broader movement aimed at creating opportunities, mentorship, and support systems for women in the film and creative sectors.
As WiFT Ghana begins its journey, the organization aims to continue delivering training programs, industry dialogues, and initiatives that elevate the role and visibility of women within Ghana’s creative economy.
