Member of Parliament for the Ningo-Prampram Constituency, Sam Nartey George has reacted to comments by NPP stalwart, Gabby Otchere-Darko on the Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill, 2021.
In a tweet on Thursday, November 11, the leading member of the governing New Patriotic Party, Gabby Otchere-Darko declared his stance against the controversial bill.
According to him, the bill undermines the rights of minority groups, and therefore he is compelled by the value of tolerance to support the rights of such minorities.
But reacting to the tweet, the Ningo-Prampram MP quizzed Gabby Otchere-Darko "are nepotism, cronyism, and despotism part of our value systems?
Sam George indicated in his response that he is also against the "corruption and misrule" by Gabby Otchere-Darko's cousin, President Akufo-Addo.
Sam George thus urged Otchere-Darko to brace himself for the passage of the bill, "as for the Bill nu, we go pass am pɛɛ. Grab a drink and popcorn and watch something. Cheers', Sam George wrote.
Their comments have so far generated divided opinions from Twitter users. While some have backed Gabby's stance, others have criticized him.
Meanwhile, Parliament's Constitutional, Legal, and Parliamentary Affairs Committee on Thursday began a public hearing to collate the inputs of the general public and stakeholders on the Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill.
