Three individuals who sustained various degrees of injury in the foiled bullion van robbery at Industrial Area in Accra on Tuesday, have been admitted to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for treatment.
The Police, in a statement indicated that these casualties were recorded because the robbers fired indiscriminately into the crowd when fleeing the scene.
According to the Police Service, the IGP, Dr George Akuffo Dampare, "has spoken to the medical team at the Hospital and the victims and has assured them of the needed support."
Meanwhile, the Police have assured of their readiness to go the extra mile to ensure the perpetrators of the act are brought to book.
"We wish to assure the public that Police have intensified efforts to get the perpetrators arrested to face justice. We will surely get them."
During the attempted robbery, a Police officer who was on duty nearby, forcefully intervened and foiled the attack.
The said officer whose identity has not been made public, has been commended for his efforts.
Meanwhile, the Police have reiterated the need for all financial institutions in the country to resort to the use of such fit for purpose vehicles for their cash in transit activities.
This is because, beyond the Police intervention, the armoured bullion vehicle used, saved the lives of the officials and the Police officer onboard even though the robbers fired into the van.
