The Chief Executive Officer and Founder of L’AINE Services Ltd, Dr. Mrs. Ellen Hagan, has urged employers to create performance management systems based on deliverables other than Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
According to her, that is the way to go in this 21st century.
“What is left for organisations to do, is to take a critical look at performance management systems. If we have a rigorous performance management systemS based on goal setting, continual improvement, and deliverables rather than KPIs, its better”.
“If an employee is not present in the organisation for two days, and yet is able to undertake a two-day task in two hours, that employee is being efficient. Employees should craft their work plan and deliverables such that the employees work can be quantified and further made easier to be held accountable”. She said.
She also added that technology has made it easier for organisations to adopt a hybrid system of work where workers can still work from home and be efficient.
She disclosed this when speaking about how companies can create a flexible working environment for its workers especially women.
Considering the challenge women go through in combining home activities and career goals, she said the best way to go these days is to partially work remotely.
Dr. Mrs. Hagan is also passionate about building an entrepreneurial spirit in the youth especially young girls.
She believes not all persons will be employed by companies, so it is imperative for the youth to learn how to create their own businesses.
Dr. Mrs. Hagan is the co-founder of Legacy Girls’ College, an all-girls’ school set up to encourage, groom and support young girls to reach their full potentials according to their ability, interests, and aspirations.
