JoyNews journalist, Prince Appiah and camera technician Emmanuel Osei have been awarded the Star Prize Award in Agriculture Journalism by the International Federation of Agriculture Journalists (IFAJ).

The two were honored in a special ceremony held as part of the 2022 IFAJ annual Congress currently underway in Denmark.

Their story on why water is critical for crop production won them the first prize in Video Category for Best Agriculture Reporting in the World.

The story titled, 'Importance of Water to Crop Production' focused on the challenges farmers face with either the absence on water on their farms or too much water on their farms.

It shed light on the plights of two farmers (vegetable farmer and a rice farmer) experiencing the different water challenges and how one is employing an indigenous technology to address the situation.

The almost 29-minutes documentary beat a number of competitive entries received by the judges from five continents in the World.

The award-winning story was one of the feature stories on agric-focused Television program - FoodChain-on JoyNews hosted by Prince Appiah and Emma Davies.

The IFAJ AWARDS
The Star Prize for Broadcast (Video) recognizes outstanding video content produced primarily for broadcast on television or online video streams by journalists in the fifty-six (56) IFAJ member countries.

Through the annual award program, IFAJ recognizes excellence in agricultural journalism - quite literally the best in the world.
