The Minority in Parliament is alleging that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) staged the attack on the Majority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu in his constituency.
This is according to the Ranking on Parliament’s Roads and Transport Committee, Kwame Governs Agbodza.
According to him, the attack was planned by the NPP to fast-track the loan approval for the 4-tier interchange at Suame.
The Adaklu legislator in a tweet on Tuesday, July 19, urged the public to disregard same.
“Ignore the so-called demo at Suame regarding bad roads. It was planned and executed by the NPP to fast track the approval of millions of euros to build a 4-tier interchange at Suame.”
The government on Tuesday, July 19, laid a commercial agreement in Parliament for the construction of the Suame Interchange and ancillary works.
The agreement has been referred to the Finance Committee of Parliament for consideration and reports back to the House.
It was laid by a Deputy Minister for Finance, Abena Osei-Asare.
This was barely 24 hours after residents almost attacked the MP for the area, Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu over the poor nature of the roads.
The state of the road prompted a hostile reception for Mr. Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu on Monday.
Some of the angry residents threw various items in his direction and hooted at him.
It took the timely intervention of the Police to calm tension and shield the MP from the residents after he attempted to address them.
