The Assemblies of God Church has pledged to combat breast cancer cases in the Ashanti Region.
According to the Church, the number of cases of breast cancer is frightening, necessitating all-out measures to combat it.
Rev. Mrs. Gladys Agyei, the Church's Regional Director of Women's Wing, says the church would continue to conduct sensitization and screening exercises to raise awareness and provide counseling to members.
As a result, the Church, in collaboration with Breast Care International (BCI), organized a breast cancer screening and awareness campaign in Kumasi.
According to Rev. Mrs. Agyei, while women should pray for healing, they should also visit a hospital for medical attention.

She encouraged women to seek medical attention on a regular basis rather than relying exclusively on prayers.
"We teach them about the spiritual aspect, we also need the physical aspect also because most of the women when they're having problems with their breasts, they go to prayer camps and other things and then again the time they will come to hospital they will see that it has gone worse, so when they come like that and educate the women, in fact they get the knowledge and when they are having any problem in their breasts they can report it to the hospital, so that is why we've organized this exercise today," she stated.

Every year, over 2,000 Ghanaian women die from breast cancer, which is a worry to the Church.
Dr. Beatrice Wiafe Addai, President of Breast Care International (BCI), urged women to stop consulting herbal doctors and expecting the disease to be addressed.

According to her, herbal remedies cannot cure breast cancer, hence it is important for women to visit proper health facilities rather than herbal centers.
"The breasts are very important organs, we should handle them with care and we should be checking the breast every month, whatever you find in your breast don't say it's not painful so it's nothing, please report to the hospital don't go and waste all the time in the prayer camp, let your pastor pray for you as you go to the hospital for treatment. And breast cancer cannot be treated by herbal preparations as we speak now, so we should not also waste the time applying herbs to the breast expecting the cancer to disappear, we should rather go to the hospital for meaningful treatment," she said.
