The riot gear supplied to journalists in various media house last week by JoyNews' Latif Iddrisu's Journalists Sanctuary International (JSI) came in handy as reporters who covered the 'Ku Me Preko Reloaded' demonstration on Saturday wore them.
They stepped out well strapped in their protective helmets and bulletproof vests as it is usually seen with journalists in developed countries.
For the first time in the West African sub region, reporters covering a civil demonstration were protected on the head by military standard helmets, bulletproof vests and body armour, all of which were provided by Journalists Sanctuary International; an organization founded by the multiple award winning journalist.

The objective for setting up the organization is to among other things, give real meaning to safety of journalists in Ghana and other parts of the world.

Latif Iddrisu, a victim of Police brutality has embarked on this cause to prevent journalists from suffering injuries in the line of duty like he experienced in 2018 when he was assaulted by Police Personnel at the CID headquarters.
So far, about ten Media outlets including print, online, Television, and radio stations have received the riot gear.

A lot more media personnel are expected to benefit from the gesture before the organization is launched in due course.
