The former Mampong MP, Francis Addai Nimoh, has formally joined the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential race.
The 57-year-old engineer said he will lead a united NPP to 'Break the 8' if elected by the delegates in the yet-to-be-announced national delegates’ congress.
Announcing his bid at the Osu Presby Hall, Mr Nimoh said the NPP requires a new face, and a new direction to win the next elections, adding that he is the new face to help break the 8.
He stated that he is bringing new energy needed to revitalise the NPP for victory in 2024.
“… Driven by my personal conviction, I am confident that my values and my professional background can be useful in shaping the necessary initiatives that would significantly improve our country and coupled with the clarion call, I have been receiving over this last years from the rank and file of our party members and from wide consultations and sound advice from the elders of the party, I, Addai Nimoh, I have thereby decided and I am hereby officially announcing my candidacy to be elected as the next flagbearer of the NPP,” he said.
He also called on the Akufo Addo-led administration to fix the current challenges with the economy to brighten the party’s chances of electoral victory in the next election.
Francis Addai Nimoh is a Member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). In 2012, he contested for the Mampong seat on the ticket of the NPP in the 2012 Ghanaian general elections and won.
