Tamale City suffered relegation on the final day of the 2022/23 betPawa Ghana Premier League season following their defeat to Medeama Sporting Club.
The team, which only gained promotion to Ghana’s top flight at the end last season, make a quick return to Division One League football after being relegated.
Tamale City were confident of another season in the Premier League but their 42 points from 34 games was not enough to help them stay.
A Jonathan Sowah hattrick at Akoon Park on the final day was the final nail in the coffin after positive results for Hearts of Oak, Legon Cities, Accra Lions and Great Olympics.
The defeat added to their poor record away from home despite picking 34 points at home. They only amassed eight points on the road, the third-lowest in the league.
Tamale City join King Faisal and Kotoku Royals who had known their faith earlier before the final day of the league season.
