In marking this year’s World Public Relations Festival, Global Media Alliance (GMA) in partnership with Africa's leading music streaming platform, Boomplay, has released a specially curated playlist to celebrate top-ten artistes in Ghana who have harnessed the power of public relations to promote their music in 2023.
This collaboration aims to promote the rich diversity of Ghanaian music and honour public relations professionals' invaluable contributions to the country's vibrant music industry.
World PR Day (WPRD), observed globally on 16th July is an annual event dedicated to recognising the vital role of public relations in shaping perceptions, fostering positive relationships, and facilitating effective communication between organizations and their audiences.
Aligned with this year’s WPRD theme of “Harnessing the Power of Public Relations”, the music playlist, titled “WPRD Festival Jams”, highlights the power of music and public relations.
The 2023 top ten artistes in Ghana using public relations to promote their music, grow their brand value and shape their career are King Promise, Black Sherif, Amaarae, Nacee, Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Camidoh, Djay, Gyakie and EL.
As part of the partnership, Boomplay will utilise its extensive music assets and cutting-edge activation to amplify the playlist to its millions of users both within Ghana and beyond.
The collaboration between GMA and Boomplay holds immense significance, as it brings together two key entities dedicated to promoting and uplifting music coming from Ghana.
"We are excited to partner with Boomplay for the celebration of World PR Day in Ghana. This collaboration allows us to create curated playlists that not only promote Ghanaian music but also recognize the crucial work being carried out by PR professionals in shaping the narrative of our artistes. Together, we can bring Ghana music to even greater heights,” said Ekow Quandzie, Lead, World PR Day Festival and Assistant Head of PR at Global Media Alliance.
Commenting on the partnership, Paul Azumah-Ayitey, Public Relations Manager at Boomplay expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, "We are honoured to collaborate with Global Media Alliance to curate a playlist that celebrates World Public Relations Day and the role the profession plays in the lives of music creatives and talents in promoting their music globally.”
