First-time contender Akosua Manu, popularly known as Kozie, has been elected as the parliamentary candidate for the Adentan constituency to contest on the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) ticket in the upcoming 2024 election.
She polled 814 votes, closely followed by Kwasi Obeng Fosu with 638 votes.
Miss Manu, who also serves as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Youth Authority, stated that the NPP was the only party capable of fostering development for the people of Adenta.
In Odododiodio, two-time contender Nii Lante Bannerman lost his bid to become the parliamentary candidate in 2024 for the NPP to Manaf Sowah, a first-timer.
The parliamentary-elect polled 349 votes against Mr. Bannerman’s 203.
The incumbent Member of Parliament (MP), Nii Lante Vanderpuye of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), bowed out of the race earlier this year.
In the Ayensuano constituency in the Eastern Region, Deputy Tourism, Arts and Culture Mark Okraku Mantey lost the bid to contest the 2024 general elections to Ida Adwoa Asiedu.
Mr. Mantey garnered 136 votes, while the victor, Ida Adwoa Asiedu, polled 410 votes. Ernest Addo and Kingsley Boateng Adomah received single-digit votes of 4 and 3, respectively.
Former MP of Tempane constituency, Joseph Dindiok Kpemka, has secured his bid to represent his people on the NPP's ticket in the 2024 elections.
Mr. Kpemka lost his seat in 2020 to NDC’s Lydia Lamisi Akanvariba.
The parliamentary-elect amassed 292 votes, closely followed by the Deputy CEO of YEA, Ibrahim Bashiru, with 229 votes.
