Agrisolve Ghana has empowered some women farmers in the country with technological solutions.
During the celebration of the 39th Farmers' Day celebrations at Tarkwa on Friday, December 1, Agrisolve Ghana introduced the 'Women Best Smallholder Farmer Awards' to recognise and celebrate the remarkable contributions of women farmers to sustainable agriculture and food security, particularly in Northern Ghana.
In a statement, Agrisolve Ghana noted that “the establishment of the Women Best Smallholder Farmer Award at both the district and regional levels within our zones of influence aims to recognise, celebrate, and motivate women farmers who have demonstrated exceptional resilience, innovation, and commitment to sustainable farming practices.”
According to Agrisolve Ghana, it supported the 2023 Farmers' Day event with varied farmer essential equipment such as technologically enhanced seeder planters, electronic rechargeable knapsacks and cash prizes for various awardees valued at GH₵90,000.00
Agrisolve Ghana said it is proud to collaborate with the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) Directorates in acknowledging the critical role women farmers play in ensuring food security and resilience.
Elorm Goh, Agrisolve Ghana’s Executive Director, said, "Our collaboration with government agencies and regional directorates underscores our commitment to fostering smart solutions for sustainable food security and resilience."
"This award initiative reflects our belief in the transformative power of technology and innovation in agriculture. We are focused on empowering women farmers who are the backbone of our food system," he added.
Agrisolve Ghana is an organization that provides farmers access to improved inputs and market platforms to sustain the availability of food and ensure livelihoods are improved.
