Charlton Athletic midfielder, Freda Ayisi, believes her call-up to the Ghana women's senior national team has come at the right time for her.
Ayisi was named in Nora Hauptle's 23-woman squad for the 2024 Olympic Games qualifier against Zambia later this month.
The 29-year-old represented England in the initial stages of her career despite being eligible to play for Ghana. However, the former Arsenal midfielder has now decided to don the colours of the West African side.
"I could have been playing for Ghana earlier but I felt that now is the right time for me to play for Ghana. It's just a personal decision," Ayisi told Joy Sports in an exclusive interview.
"I have decided to do it now and I think it's the right moment for me."
After representing England in the early parts of her career, @FredaAyisi will now don the Ghana jersey. She’s been called up for the Olympic Games qualifier against Zambia.

"I was playing football for England initially. I finally made the big decision to come over and play for Ghana."
Ayisi is expected to join the rest of the team this week as they begin camping before the first leg of the third round of qualifiers on Friday, February 23.
