A member of the International Olympics Committee (IOC), Williams Blick, has praised Ghana for the successful organisation of the 13th African Games.
The three-week event came to an end over the weekend at the University of Ghana Stadium with over 5000 athletes and officials being present.
Though not a smooth start to the Games, the organisation eventually got better with time with people commending the efforts put in by the government of Ghana.
Blick, speaking at the final press briefing on Monday, March 25, also praised the Ministry of Youth and Sports for delivering an unforgettable experience.
"What Ghana has done as a country is really extremely commendable," said the IOC member. "Hosting of these games in this difficult time is really something that has been done in an excellent way.
"We know that hosting has been difficult; there have been limited finances but the government of Ghana and the leadership of the President insisted that these games must take place.
"We are aware that there are some countries that have pulled out in the past for hosting games like Austria for the Commonwealth Games, South Africa for the Commonwealth Games and others but Ghana stuck there and produced games which have been commendable.
The Ugandan also added he witnessed praise from countries such as Namibia and Nigeria who spoke highly of the facilities made available for the African Games.
"These are true world-class facilities in Ghana and this is commendable," he added.
"Very few African countries have these types of facilities and this is a bonus for the development of sports in Ghana and hosting of future international events."
Ghana recorded its highest medal tally at the African Games with 69 while Egypt, Nigeria and South Africa made the top three.
