The Alliance for Social Equity and Public Accountability (ASEPA) has urged the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) and Sentuo Oil Refinery to provide clarity regarding their alleged relationship, following rumours of TOR's sale to Sentuo.
ASEPA's Executive Director, Mensah Thompson, highlighted concerns after receiving a whistleblower alert about a meeting between TOR management and Sentuo Oil Refinery Ltd.
The meeting which reportedly discussed the sale of TOR, occurred on April 4.
Thompson stated, "The meeting we were informed, lasted from 10am to 1pm at the premises of the TOR after which there was a large celebration at Sentuo Oil Refinery Ltd to celebrate the outcome of the supposed meeting."
In response, ASEPA announced plans to utilise the Right to Information Law to compel both TOR and Sentuo Oil Refinery to disclose their relationship status.
Specifically, ASEPA seeks clarification on whether TOR has been sold outright to Sentuo, if Sentuo has assumed TOR's management, or if TOR's operations have been partially transferred to Sentuo.
Additionally, ASEPA emphasized TOR's obligation to maintain transparency as a public institution.
They stressed that TOR must adhere to Ghanaian law and ensure transparency in all operations and management processes.
