Dreams FC coach Abdul Karim Zito has advised supporters of Asante Kotoko to forget about winning the Ghana Premier League this season.
Zito led Dreams FC to beat the Porcupine Warriors 2-0 on Sunday, with goals from Sylvester Simba and Derrick Atta Agyei.
Sunday’s defeat was the seventh in Kotoko’s last nine league games.
Zito, a former coach of the club, asked the fans to focus on helping Kotoko gather what remains of what a lost season.
"I would like to take this opportunity to plead to our supporters that we should forget about the league. We should try to end it. We should make peace with reality. The team is not in good shape so the shouting and the hooting will not bring it back. But patience and focus can bring it back," Zito said.
Kotoko have amassed a meekly 33 points, sixteen points fewer than league leaders Samartex and in the bottom half of the table in 11th position.

For weeks, Kotoko fans have criticized the club’s technical team and the players over their poor form.
In 2024 alone, Kotoko have lost eight times in the league, been eliminated from the FA Cup following a 1-0 loss to Karela United, and lost the Presidents Cup to Asec Mimosas in a 2-1 defeat.
These results have angered fans who have not hidden their displeasure from the team.
Yet, Karim Zito insists optimism is the only way forward.
"The way they were shouting and hooting at them, brought in the psychological point of coaching that fear of failure can let you fail. So when you don’t take time, this fear of failure will let the boys feign injuries because they are afraid to come (and play)," he added.
Kotoko’s next league match is a trip to league leaders Samartex 1996 on Saturday, April, 20.
