Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, has emphasised the critical need for Ghana to focus on boosting economic growth and empowering entrepreneurs across the country.
During the commemoration of his 25th anniversary as the 16th occupant of the Golden Stool, he highlighted the imperative of nurturing entrepreneurship as a catalyst for national development.
He underscored the enduring nature of Ghana's democratic tenets, urging entrepreneurs to play a pivotal role in driving economic progress.
In his address, the Asantehene urged entrepreneurs to demonstrate confidence in their homeland by investing in its future.
He emphasised the pivotal role that entrepreneurs play in fostering sustainable economic growth, regardless of changes in government leadership.
"The greatest challenge facing our nation is to intensify efforts in growing our economy. While governments may change, our democratic principles endure, and it is incumbent upon entrepreneurs to contribute significantly to our nation's development," Otumfuo Osei Tutu II stated.
“That is why we will continue to encourage the entrepreneurs to show their readiness to place their money where their mouth is and invest more in the country of their birth,” he stated.
Furthermore, the Asantehene called upon the public to remain vigilant in safeguarding the democratic process, particularly as Ghana prepares for the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections on December 7.
"After all our past experiences, we should make sure that our democracy is saved," he stated.
He added, “Nonetheless, we need to know that we cannot take things for granted. We must be alert to avoid anything that will derail the electoral process.
“People need the right environment where they can make informed choices in the interest of the nation,” he stated.
