The second edition of the All Star Festival Sports Business Series at the Dr. Andani Andan Board of Chamber, University for Development Studies, saw an enlightening keynote speech from Mas-Ud Didi Dramani, the head coach of the Black Galaxies.
Dramani candidly discussed the significant impact of fan influence on scouting decisions, providing valuable insights into the complications of football management.
In his presentation, Dramani remarked, “A scout who sits among football fans, decision is 70% compromised because fans will suggest their favourite players without an eye for technicalities involved.”
The event, aimed at bridging the gap between sports professionals and the business side of football, offered a platform for Dramani to share his extensive experience in managing and scouting talent.
He emphasized the need for scouts to maintain objectivity, stressing how emotional attachment from fans can cloud judgment and lead to biased decisions.
"Fans bring passion and excitement to the game, but their perspective is often clouded by personal biases and a lack of technical understanding," He explained.
The former Asante Kotoko head coach speech highlighted not only the challenges faced by scouts but also the importance of comprehensive training and the development of an independent scouting system. He urged upcoming scouts to focus on players' skills, work ethic, and potential for growth rather than submitting to popular opinion.
"Football is as much about strategy and precision as it is about passion. Our role as coaches and scouts is to build a team that reflects these values.” He added.
The All Star Festival Sports Business Series provided an exceptional platform for discussions on sports management, business strategies, and the future of football in Ghana. Dramani's insights added a significant layer of understanding to the complexities involved in scouting and team selection.
The second edition of the All Star Festival Sports Business Series successfully brought together diverse voices from the football community, highlighting the importance of objective decision-making in sports.
Mas-Ud Didi Dramani's speech will undoubtedly inspire many to adopt a more analytical and decisive approach to football management.
