Flagbearer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama, is calling for a more streamlined way of exporting local talent abroad.
According to him, the current manner in which professionals leave the country due to economic conditions leaves much to be desired.
He made these remarks at the party’s town hall meeting in Accra.
While acknowledging the importance of migration, he expressed a desire for a more organised process that ensures a more effective exchange of value.
"Migration of professionals is not inherently a bad thing, it must happen in an organised manner," he said on Monday.
He believes the government should liaise with foreign countries that need excess labour on a short-term basis.
The former President believes this approach will ensure that Ghanaians involved in such programmes return with improved skills and experience.
