The Visionary Norman Foundation, a prominent non-governmental and humanitarian organization, has held a groundbreaking Women Empowerment and Training Summit under the theme "Empowerment & Skills Development."
The summit, held at the University of Cape Coast SRC Conference Room, brought together distinguished figures from diverse sectors, including governance, education, industry, and health, who shared their life-changing experiences and wisdom with women from all over the nation.
The event featured an impressive lineup of speakers, including Abraham Norman Nortey, CEO of the Visionary Norman Foundation; Barbara Asher Ayisi, former Member of Parliament for Cape Coast North Constituency; Prof. Eugene K.M. Darteh, a Professor of Social Determinants of Sexual and Reproductive Health; and Prof. Eunice Fay Amissah, Director of the Centre for Gender Research, Advocacy, and Documentation (CEGRAD) at the University of Cape Coast.
Each speaker brought a wealth of knowledge and insight, inspiring the audience to take on leadership roles in their respective fields.

Prof. Eunice Fay Amissah kicked off the summit with a powerful session on "Leading with Emotional Intelligence and Resilience." As a well-known academic advocate for gender equity, she stressed the importance of self-awareness and emotional management in leadership.
Drawing from her experiences, she illustrated how overcoming challenges through emotional intelligence has been crucial to her career. Her presentation resonated deeply with attendees, many of whom felt encouraged to harness their emotional strengths in their leadership journeys.
Abraham Norman Nortey, the driving force behind the Visionary Norman Foundation, captivated the audience with his talk on "Self-Presentation and Strategies to Climb the Leadership Ladder." He highlighted the significance of self-branding and shared strategic steps women can take to rise to leadership positions.

“Confidence and strategic positioning are key,” Nortey emphasized, sharing his journey from modest beginnings to leading a foundation that has touched countless lives. His story of determination and vision served as a beacon of hope, urging participants to overcome societal barriers and strive for excellence.
Prof. Eugene K.M. Darteh provided a reflective session on "Life Lessons, Challenges, and Advice in Leadership." He recounted his academic and professional journey, emphasizing the importance of perseverance despite obstacles. “Every challenge is an opportunity in disguise,” he remarked, encouraging the women to view setbacks as stepping stones to success. His candid reflections struck a chord with many, particularly young women aspiring to leadership roles in academia and beyond.
Barbara Asher Ayisi, a politician and former Deputy Minister, spoke on "The Power of Networking: Building Strong Professional Relationships." She underscored the value of creating a solid network of professional contacts, which she described as essential for career advancement.
Ayisi shared personal stories from her time in parliament, illustrating how networking had opened doors and created opportunities in her political career. Her focus on the importance of community and connections resonated with the audience, inspiring them to actively pursue and nurture meaningful professional relationships.
Concluding the summit, Madam Alimatu Sadia Yusif led an interactive session on "Effective Communication Skills for Women Leaders." She highlighted the critical role of communication in leadership, emphasizing clarity, assertiveness, and active listening as essential skills. Yusif's practical tips on enhancing communication were well-received by attendees, who found the session both enlightening and actionable.
The event ended with a vibrant networking session, allowing participants to engage with the speakers and each other, exchanging ideas and forming connections that will support their leadership goals.
