Coconut Grove Regency Hotel, a subsidiary of Groupe Nduom, will on Tuesday 17th September, 2024.
2024, organize a blood donation exercise on its premises at 9 am.
The blood donation exercise which is being organized in partnership with the National Blood Service (NBS), forms part of activities marking the hotel’s 25th Anniversary celebration.
General Manager of Coconut Grove Regency Hotel, Mr Ralph Ayitey said the blood donation exercise forms part of the hotel’s corporate social responsibility of giving back to the community.
The Chief Executive Officer of the National Blood Service, Dr Shirley Owusu-Ofori underscored the importance of blood donation. “There is a critical need for a minimum of 300,000 blood donors to donate at least once every year to meet the requirements of Ghana.”
She said donated blood has a short shelf-life of 35 days hence the need for individuals to commit to giving blood regularly.
“This can be done by celebrating milestones such as birthdays and personal events with a blood donation. Such gifts of blood are needed by vulnerable patients in Ghana,” she concluded.
