The Spokesperson for the Bawumia Campaign, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has indicated that the government plans to engage organized labor in discussions, with just nine days left before a planned nationwide strike.
This follows the announcement by public sector workers, under the Trades Union Congress (TUC), of their intention to lay down their tools after the government failed to meet their demands.
The TUC's ultimatum includes suspending all forms of mining in forest reserves as part of efforts to combat illegal mining, commonly known as galamsey.
Last month, the TUC presented three key demands to the government, including the immediate removal of all mining equipment from forest reserves and areas surrounding water bodies.
They also called for the deployment of the Police and Military with full authority to remove or destroy mining and earth-moving equipment near river bodies and within forest reserves.

Speaking on Newsnite on Joy FM on Tuesday, Aboagye expressed confidence that the government would reach a compromise with organized labor through dialogue.
In a statement by the TUC Secretary General, the group demanded the immediate declaration of a state of emergency in galamsey-affected areas, a halt to all mining in forest reserves, the creation of special courts for prosecuting offenders, and the deployment of the military to dismantle mining equipment.
The Congress blamed the government’s inaction for widespread environmental destruction.
