French President Emmanuel Macron expressed a desire for France to draw inspiration from Morocco’s approach to regional development, particularly in Africa’s Sahel region.
Speaking Tuesday in Rabat, Macron praised Morocco’s “unrivalled stability, openness, and development” as exemplary qualities that could encourage cooperative initiatives across Africa.
During a joint session of the Moroccan Parliament on his state visit, Macron reiterated France’s commitment to building renewed relations with African nations.
He noted that Morocco, due to its “geography, history, culture, and the vision of its Sovereigns,” has long positioned itself as a conduit and platform for African progress.
Macron emphasized the necessity of promoting stability and advancing development initiatives, especially those aimed at empowering Africa’s youth.
He highlighted France’s intention to collaborate with Morocco in developing this new partnership strategy, envisioning joint efforts in areas like education, agriculture, environmental projects, digital technology, and energy.
Celebrating Morocco’s strategic position as a bridge between Africa and Europe, Macron commended King Mohammed VI’s vision for Africa’s growth.
He called the bond between France and Morocco a “historic opportunity” and “strategic duty” to work toward a shared future of prosperity and security across Africa, Europe, and beyond.
