The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Ketu South, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has commissioned a 10-bed ultra-modern paediatric emergency unit at the Ketu South Municipal Hospital.
The state-of-the-art facility promises to enhance the quality of care for children in the municipality and beyond.
The commissioning ceremony, held at the hospital premises, was graced by dignitaries, healthcare professionals, and community members.
In his address, the Volta Regional Director of Health Services, Dr Chrysantus Kubio, emphasised the critical need for the new unit.
“This paediatric emergency unit is a pressing need for the hospital at this time,” Dr Kubio remarked, adding that it would significantly bolster the hospital’s ability to handle paediatric emergencies efficiently and effectively.

The Ketu South MP highlighted that the project is part of her broader vision to develop human capital in the Ketu South constituency.
She expressed her gratitude to all stakeholders who contributed to the project and appealed for further support to tackle other pressing healthcare needs in the municipality.
“We are calling on corporate organizations and individuals to partner with us in building a dental unit for the Ketu South Municipal Hospital. Additionally, we need support to equip the CHPS compounds across the municipality to ensure holistic healthcare delivery,” Madam Gomashie stated.
The medical superintendent of the hospital, Dr Alphonse Makafui Dzakpasu, shared the challenges the facility faced prior to the commissioning of the paediatric unit.
“Until now, paediatric cases were managed in the adult ward, which was far from ideal. This new 10-bed facility will address this gap and allow us to attend to more cases than before,” Dr Dzakpasu noted.
The ceremony also saw the recognition of contributions from various stakeholders, including former First Lady, Lordina Mahama, who made generous donations to support healthcare delivery at the hospital.
