The National Peace Council (NPC) has applauded Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for his gracious concession speech following his defeat in the just-ended presidential race.
In a statement issued on Sunday, December 8, the NPC praised Dr Bawumia’s leadership in respecting the peace pact signed by the presidential candidates before the election to uphold peace before, during, and after the elections.
The release further noted that Dr Bawumia's actions have greatly enhanced Ghana’s democratic processes and made the nation proud.

"We commend H.E. Bawumia for respecting his commitment to the 4th Presidential Elections Peace Pact. This action has enhanced Ghana’s democratic processes and made our country proud," the NPC said.
The NPC also congratulated former President John Dramani Mahama for publicly accepting the concession, which was announced by Bawumia.

As the nation awaits the official declaration of results by the Electoral Commission (EC), the NPC has called for continued calm from all parties and their supporters.
The EC, in a brief statement hours after the Vice President's concession message urged the public to exercise patience.
