The Majority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has refuted Minority Leader, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson’s claims regarding his prosecution.
During the dissolution of the 8th Parliament, Dr Forson reflected on the charges brought against him in the controversial Ambulance case.
He alleged that the Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Godfred Yeboah Dame, was determined to use all available strategies to pursue what he termed a "malicious prosecution" to satisfy the government.

His remarks came during his final address to the House prior to the dissolution of the 8th Parliament.
In response to Dr Ato Forson’s claims, Mr Afenyo-Markin urged him not to personalise the issue.
“We want to respond to my respected colleague, Dr Kingsley Ato Forson, by telling him that he should not take it personally, I know how it is, but if everybody is given the opportunity to tell his story, maybe you will realise that others might have gone through worse situations,” he suggested.
Mr Afenyo-Markin further asserted that it was not appropriate for Dr Forson to personalise issues and mention the Attorney General’s name, as though he personally had an act to grind.
He pleaded with Dr Forson to move past the events and reminded him that other members wished him well.
“I will plead with you that let bygones be bygones, you know what some seniors on our side know, you know what some seniors on your side know that everybody wishes you well. So, it isn’t the case that this government was such a bad government that they wanted you in jail at all cost. So please let this lie,” he said.
However, Mr Afenyo-Markin did commend Dr Forson for cautioning members not to repeat such instances in the future.
