Energy stakeholders from Ghana and Nigeria convened at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra for a high-level engagement meeting last Friday.
This was initiated at the request of Nigeria’s Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ekperipe Ekpo.

The discussions centred on strategies to enhance collaboration between the two nations, ensuring policy alignment for smooth operations and sustained economic growth.
Participants also received an update on the West African Gas Pipeline Company’s pigging activity, which commenced on February 5, and is expected to continue until March 2, 2025.

The meeting served as a platform to introduce newly appointed heads of various Ghanaian energy sector agencies to their Nigerian counterparts, fostering stronger ties between the two countries.
Attendees included Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor; Nigeria’s Minister of State for Gas and Petroleum Resources, Ekperipe Ekpo; Acting Chief Executive of the Volta River Authority (VRA), Edward Ekow Obeng-Kenzo; Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) CEO, Edward Abambire Bawa; and Chief Executive of the Petroleum Commission (PC), Emeafa Hardcastle.

Also present were the Chief Executives of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC), the West African Gas Pipeline Company Limited (WAPCo), and the West African Gas Pipeline Authority (WAGPA).

Both ministers reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening Ghana-Nigeria energy sector relations, emphasising the importance of collaboration in driving sustainable development and regional energy security.
