LetselevateHer Ghana’s journey to Bolgatanga highlighted its unwavering commitment to uplifting women and fostering sustainable economic development.
Among the communities visited the Kologo community of basket weavers stood out for their remarkable craftsmanship, which has been hindered by challenges such as inadequate shelter, fluctuating market prices, and limited infrastructure.

Dr Roberta Ayalingo, the visionary behind LetselevateHer, emphasised during the visit, “Empowering women is not just about addressing their immediate needs; it’s about building lasting solutions that create generational impact.” This guiding principle shaped the team’s interactions and initiatives in the region.

The team facilitated meaningful discussions with the artisans, uncovering their struggles and aspirations. In response, LetselevateHer took immediate action by purchasing over ten baskets, rebranding them for wider market access and ensuring fair compensation for the artisans. This effort not only provided financial relief but also laid the groundwork for sustainable economic opportunities.
Recognising the importance of long-term solutions, LetselevateHer is developing plans to build permanent shelters for the basket weavers equipped with solar panels to enhance their working environment. Infrastructure improvements and market development initiatives are also on the horizon to bolster productivity and income stability.

The visit underscored the power of collaboration, with LetselevateHer engaging local chiefs, the Ghana Education Service, and municipal leaders to align its initiatives with community priorities. This collaborative approach ensures that the foundation’s efforts are sustainable and impactful.

Through these initiatives, LetselevateHer is transforming the lives of women in Bolgatanga, fostering economic resilience and empowerment. The foundation remains steadfast in its mission to create equitable opportunities for women.
