Residents of Kukuazugu in Walewale in the North East Region, are reportedly living in fear following the deployment of military personnel to enforce a dawn-to-dusk curfew in the town.
Scores of residents are fleeing their homes after heavily armed soldiers raided the private residence of a sub-chief in the community.
The reason for the military operation remains unclear. However, JoyNews checks revealed significant destruction to personal property, and at least one pregnant woman was left traumatized.
Correspondent Eliasu Tanko reports that the distressed residents are calling on the government to lift the curfew and withdraw the soldiers.
