At the Living Faith Ministries Church, clergy members are calling for stricter enforcement of legal frameworks governing churches in Ghana.
Bishop Francis Sarpong of Calvary Charismatic Baptist Church raised concerns about the widespread failure of churches to comply with essential legal and ethical standards in pastoral ministry.
In his latest book, The Pastoral Law, Bishop Sarpong provides practical guidance on key areas such as church registration, financial regulations, and the application of church constitutions. While Ghana has legislation governing churches, enforcement has been inconsistent, leaving many congregations unprotected.
The 14-chapter book explores critical topics, including the legal framework for churches, employment law, and intellectual property. It aims to elevate pastoral ministry standards across the country.
“These laws exist but are often not enforced,” Bishop Sarpong explained.
“Those of us working abroad must comply, or we face consequences. The principles in this book apply to everyone, and if followed, they will make a significant difference.”

The book is expected to be an invaluable resource for ministry leaders, offering clarity on both legal and ethical aspects of pastoral care.
Bishop Dominic Allotey, Head Pastor of Living Faith Ministries International Church, Rhema City, emphasized its importance beyond the church.
“It’s crucial to understand the laws regulating church activities. Many laws affect our lives without us knowing. Ignorance is never an excuse,” he said.
Patron Michael Kumah expressed optimism about the book’s impact on national development.

“Many of these concepts are missing in our country. I bought this book to gain knowledge and positively influence my generation. Wisdom is key to sustaining ministry,” he remarked.
The Pastoral Law was launched on March 1, 2025, serving as a vital guide to essential topics such as church registration, drafting church constitutions, financial regulations, and pastoral counseling.
