Reggae music legend Duane Stephenson is inviting all reggae lovers to the 2025 edition of the Kuchoko Roots Festival, set to take place at La Pleasure Beach on Saturday, March 8.
Duane is deeply appreciative of the love Ghanaian music fans have shown him and is ready to return the affection with an unforgettable performance.
“It’s definitely going to be a great show,” he said, expressing how impressed he has been with rehearsals so far, despite travelling with only his keyboardist and manager.
Appearing on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show on Friday morning alongside compatriot Kenyatta Hill and festival organiser Blakk Rasta to promote the event, Duane shared his excitement.
“It’s my turn to return the love,” he said. “I guarantee that people will enjoy themselves. It makes it easier to perform at a high level when the energy around you is strong.”
To the delight of fans, he even performed his hit song "Better Tomorrow" live on air.
The Feel of Home Is Real
Beyond the music, Duane has been captivated by Ghana’s renowned hospitality and says he feels a deep connection to the country.
“Listen, if you don’t see it in anything else, you definitely see it in the food. And trust me, Jamaicans love their food! Nowhere else in the world is food as similar to Jamaican cuisine as it is in Ghana.
“The whole stew concept—stew fish and everything—the way of preparing it is absolutely the same. Our national dish, ackee, comes from here. The colonialists took us...”
‘Expect Spiritual Upliftment’ – Kenyatta Hill
Kenyatta Hill is also fired up for the festival, urging fans to come expecting “spiritual enlightenment, spiritual upliftment, and good, edifying music” that educates and inspires.
“If you have a song you want to hear, trust me, it’s probably already on the list,” he assured listeners. When put to the test, he proved he wasn’t just boasting—song after song requested by fans was already part of his planned setlist.
“I’m just looking forward to seeing my Ghanaian people come out and fully enjoy the Kuchoko Roots Reggae Festival. The anticipation, the joy—it’s bubbling like lava. We are ready to explode on stage! Come be part of this explosive togetherness.”
Blakk Rasta: ‘Reggae Is Still Alive!’
Festival organiser Blakk Rasta revealed that as many as 17 artistes are billed to perform at "the rootiest reggae festival in Africa."
Gates open at 8:00 AM, with Vibration Kings kicking off performances at 2:00 PM.
Tickets, priced at GH₵50, are available at kuchoko.com, on Akwaaba.app, and at the gate.
Blakk Rasta urged reggae lovers to turn up in their numbers to prove that "reggae is still alive."
“Man, I can't wait… This show has been very intentional. Duane is going to serenade all the beautiful ladies, and Kenyatta will deliver the hard, rough reggae his father was known for and beyond. And I will come in with a blend of Mutabaruka, a blend of myself, a blend of Jacob Miller—a mix of everything.”
“Yes, we will break it up! Reggae sympathisers and lovers, this is your opportunity to show the world that we have the numbers.”
