Chairman of the Constitutional Review Committee, Professor Henry Kwasi Prempeh has confirmed that while the committee has received its official budget, it is also working to raise additional funds independently to ensure it can carry out its critical work effectively.
Speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show on Monday, March 17, Prof Prempeh outlined the committee’s current progress, emphasising that the committee is well-equipped to begin its mandate despite initial logistical challenges.
"We’ve been given a budget, and we are also independently raising money to support the work that we are going to do," he explained.
He added, "We’ve accepted the budget that has been provided to us, and we are moving forward with the resources at hand."
According to him, the committee has been assigned an office, which is currently undergoing refurbishment.
"We’ve been assigned an office. It’s going through some refurbishment and resourcing in terms of furniture and stuff like that, it should be probably complete," Prof Prempeh said.
In addition to securing the right infrastructure, he also noted that the committee has also started building its team.
A secretariat has been established, and a range of personnel have been hired, including researchers, a project coordinator, and administrative staff.
"We have a secretariat, we have hired some bodies, researchers, a project coordinator, and some admin staff to help us," Prof Prempeh continued.
The Committee is expected to complete its work in six months.
