On behalf of the leadership and membership of the New Patriotic Party, we wish all Ghanaians a Happy Independence Anniversary.
Today marks 58 years of self-rule, since our forebears began the quest to liberate our people from colonial rule, and most importantly to entrench the rights and liberties of the Ghanaian people, development in freedom and economic empowerment to steer Ghana to higher heights.
As we reflect on how far we have come as a nation, we must not lose sight of our history as a people, our attitudes, our culture, our vision, our commitment to nation building. We must be guided by our past mistakes and the wisdom born of experience. We must stride into the future, confident that we will make it if we work at it.
We must believe in Ghana and do what is right by our nation, and thereby fulfil the dreams and aspirations of those far-sighted individuals who initiated the steps for our national freedom and independence.
We salute and wish the people of Ghana a happy 58th Independence Anniversary.
God bless Ghana!

Nana Akufo-Addo
