Health workers from different parts of Ghana have promised the Chief Executive of Peace and Love Hospital, Dr Beatrice Wiafe-Addai, that they will not sell the free medicines donated to the facilities by the organisation. Instead, they will give them to patients who need them the most.
The medicines, worth $2.3 million, were donated by Direct Relief and Teva Pharmaceuticals to help people with health problems like high blood pressure, diabetes, and mental illnesses, especially in poor and remote areas where health facilities lack basic supplies.

Many health centres in rural Ghana struggle because they do not have enough medicines or equipment. This makes it hard for them to give proper care, and many patients cannot afford the high cost of treatment.
Some of the health centres that received the free medicines include ones in Jirapa, Bunkprugu Yunyo, Bimbila, Kumasi Metro, and the Korase CHPS Compound.

Mavis Osei-Akoto from the Kumasi Metro Health thanked Peace and Love Hospital and its partners for their help. “We will not sell the medicines. Thank you and may God bless you,” she said.
Yaw Fosu from the Korase CHPS Compound also thanked the donors and said the medicines would be given out for free to help patients who cannot pay.

Dr Wiafe-Addai explained that this is just the first set of supplies, assuring that there's more on the way.
She reminded everyone that the donated drugs are not to be sold under any condition.
“These medicines must be given to patients without any charge,” she stressed
