The Auditor-General is expected to deliver an interim audit report on outstanding contractor claims in the coming days, paving the way for the government to start clearing these payments.
This update emerged during a meeting between Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson and Ecobank Group CEO Jeremy Awori.

Government inherited contractor arrears totaling GH¢67 billion and has committed to auditing and settling these liabilities over a four-year period.
To initiate the process, GH¢13 billion has been allocated in the 2025 Budget to settle verified claims.
Dr. Forson emphasised the administration’s resolve to prevent the buildup of new arrears, highlighting recent amendments to the Public Financial Management Act aimed at enhancing discipline and transparency in public procurement and contract management.

As Ghana’s largest financial institution, Ecobank was urged to deepen its support for the country’s economic recovery, especially in private sector development and agriculture.
In response, Ecobank CEO Jeremy Awori expressed the bank’s commitment to supporting Ghana’s recovery, signaling readiness to increase lending and strengthen strategic collaboration with the government.
The meeting was also attended by the Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor.
