UniBank has teamed up with Technology Service Providers to provide cellular-based Banking Services.
UniBank, the first runner up in product innovation in the CIG Ghana Banking Awards 2008 and three (3) times winners for Best Customer Care has launched a Net-based banking service accessible through mobile phones.
According to the Head of Operations, Edward Randolph-Koranteng, the Bank has completed successful trials and new online banking products are being offered to customers as of Tuesday July 15th 2009. The e-Banking Unit of the bank has already implemented ATM and e-zwich services to its clients.
The pact with technology service providers (TSPs), will utilize the vendor’s new generation of TSPs and run on the industry standard Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) technology.
The cooperation is the latest sign of the explosive growth of Web-based banking in Ghana. A recent study found the number of banking institutions eager to offer online banking services has slightly increased since the start of the year
Over the next few weeks, uniBank is expected to burst into e-banking with five major initiatives; a drive to accelerate customer service convenience.
They include the launch of uni-Alert (Notify-Me Banking) - a service that notifies customers immediately salaries, deposits or credits are paid into their accounts. It also notifies the customer anytime a withdrawal is made from the account and gives instant balances through mobile phones. Customers do not have to go to any uniBank branch to obtain such information in person.
The uni-Mobile involves the delivery of banking services on the customer’s mobile phone. This allows customers check account balances, view last five recent transactions on accounts, buy mobile top-up units directly from their phones from any network. Transfer funds from one account to the other.
uni-Web is an internet banking service that allows customers to view their account statements and also pay their bills real time.
e-Collect - a fees and Cash Collection for Institutions in which uniBank provides the payments gateway.
In the view of the Managing Director, Mr Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah, uniBank is well positioned to assert its quality brands in the industry with an avalanche of e-Banking products.
