The Energy Commission of Ghana is set to host the Zonal Stage of the 6th Edition of the Senior High Schools Renewable Energy Challenge.
This annual competition brings together some of the brightest young minds in the country to showcase innovation in clean energy.
This year’s zonal contests will take place at the College of Engineering Auditorium, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), on August 9th and 11th, 2025. The event promises to be a thrilling display of creativity, technical know-how, and a deep commitment to sustainable energy solutions.

Representing the Southern Zone on 9th August are PRESEC–Legon, Presbyterian SHS–Larteh, Bueman SHS, Adidome SHS, Assin Manso SHTS, Ahantaman Girls SHS, Bia SHTS, and Opoku Ware School.
The Northern Zone contenders—OLA Girls SHS, Sunyani SHS, Kintampo SHS, Damongo SHS, Dabokpa Technical Institute, Walewale SHTS, and Bolgatanga SHS—will take the stage on 11th August.

The competition, which aims to promote practical learning and raise awareness of renewable energy among students, is a platform to identify and nurture Ghana’s next generation of clean energy leaders.
The Energy Commission is delivering this flagship initiative with support from GIZ, Ashesi University, the Volta River Authority, Greenfield Ambassador, and Star Oil.
Media coverage will be provided by Joy News, which will broadcast the event live from 9 a.m.
As the finalists prepare to emerge, the nation awaits the champions who will represent their zones in the upcoming National Finals—and potentially become Ghana’s future energy innovators.
