Police in Koforidua have re-arrested 29-year-old Vera Akosua Asare following the death of her boyfriend, Daniel Omane, who sustained severe injuries in an acid attack earlier this year.
The incident occurred in March 2025 when Vera allegedly poured acid on Omane while he was asleep in his room.
According to initial reports, the two shared a child. Vera is suspected to have carried out the attack over suspicions of infidelity.
Neighbours were alerted by Omane’s screams and rushed to his aid.
Vera was immediately apprehended by co-tenants and handed over to the police, while Omane was taken to the Eastern Regional Hospital in critical condition.
Following her initial arrest, Vera was remanded but later granted bail by the court to allow her to care for their child, as Omane continued to receive treatment for life-threatening injuries.
After months of battling complications from the acid burns, Daniel Omane reportedly passed away a few days ago, prompting the police to re-arrest Vera.
She is expected to face fresh charges in connection with his death.
