The Evening of Reflections and Memorial for the eight victims of Wednesday’s military helicopter crash took place at the Forecourt of the State House.
The solemn ceremony formed part of the official three-day national mourning period declared by President John Mahama to honour the memory of Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Environment Minister Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, and six others who died when a Ghana Air Force helicopter went down in the Adansi-Akrofuom District on August 6, 2025.
The program included interfaith prayers and tributes from the President and Vice President, family members, government officials, and other state institutions.

Meanwhile, Books of condolence have been opened at various institutions, including the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology, the Ghana Armed Forces Headquarters, the NDC headquarters, and the NADMO head office.
The evening’s proceedings precede a state funeral scheduled for Friday, August 15, at Black Star Square, where an inter-denominational service will be held to bid the victims a final farewell.
