Ace football analyst, Dr Kofi Asafo Adjei, has admonished the Ghana Football Association to be mindful of neglecting calls of Ghanaians when making decisions for the association.
His comments follow the GFA's decision at its 31st Ordinary Congress to approve a constitutional amendment extending the presidential term limit from two to three terms.
This move, which now allows a GFA President to serve up to 12 years, has sparked widespread debate, with many stakeholders questioning its long-term implications.
Speaking on Luv Fm, Dr. Asafo Adjei strongly dismissed assertions that sports, particularly football, cannot be effectively developed within an eight-year period.
“If anyone says he can't develop football in 8 years, then the person doesn't know anything about football.
“The GFA manages our national teams so Ghanaians should have a say in who leads that association.
“If the GFA continues to make the fans feel neglected, it will get to a point where we won't have any fans in the stadium watching our games.
“I was so disappointed when Congress approved the three-term extension for a GFA President. This crop of leaders disregards the fan,s and it's heartbreaking. Football belongs to the fans,” he said.
