The Ghana Tourism Development Company (GTDC) has introduced a new strategy to drive investment and revenue generation in the tourism sector.
Under the plan, the GTDC is partnering with institutions such as the Forestry Commission and traditional councils to manage tourist sites and curate events. A key component of the strategy involves offering minority stock shares to investors who approach the company for support. This enables the GTDC to participate directly in the administration and financial performance of new tourism ventures while safeguarding the government’s interest in them.
As part of efforts to modernise its operations, the company has also launched the Ghana Tourism Investment Platform (GTIP), a web-based portal accessible at investintourism.org.
The platform provides a comprehensive listing of potential tourist destinations and investment opportunities, with projections to become Africa’s most extensive tourism investment hub.
In addition, the GTIP will host the Ghana Tourism Marketplace, an online service designed to give travellers a secure and reliable channel for booking tourism-related services.
The marketplace is expected to enhance visitor confidence and comfort by ensuring verified transactions and adherence to quality standards.
According to GTDC, the new strategy and digital platforms are aimed at strengthening the viability of Ghana’s tourism industry while improving the overall visitor experience.
