Police Ladies failed in their bid to book qualification for the 2025 CAF Women’s Champions League after losing to ASEC Mimosas on Tuesday, September 2.
The Ghanaian champions suffered a 4-1 defeat at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium against the host team at the ongoing WAFU B Qualifiers.
The Ivorian side opened the scoring in the game with just two minutes away from the first half break, capitalising on a loose defending from the security side.
Yussif Basigi’s side came from the recess hoping to get back on level terms but they were undone in the second minute of the second half as ASEC scored their second goal of the game.
Habibou Ouedraogo put the game beyond the reach of Police Ladies with a great drive and an even better finish which beat the Ghanaian goalkeeper to make it 3-0.
Sarah Nyarko recorded her second goal of the tournament when she scored to give Police Ladies a lifeline.
However, it wasn’t enough as ASEC scored again to restore their three-goal lead and eventually secure their place in the final of the competition.
The result also means Police Ladies fail to seal a ticket to the main Champions League, missing out on their first attempt.
Police Ladies will now play for bronze medal on Friday, September 5.
