Three people narrowly escaped death on Tuesday afternoon after the vehicle they were travelling in veered off the road and plunged into a ditch at Adukrom Waterworks Junction in the Okere District of the Eastern Region.
The accident occurred around 1:28 p.m. and involved a Nissan Isuzu truck with registration number GS 746-17, reportedly loaded with foodstuffs and beverages.
Preliminary reports suggest the truck may have suffered brake failure before the crash.

Rescue officers from the Akropong Fire Station, led by ADO I Gilbert Amoako, rushed to the scene and extricated the three victims trapped inside the mangled vehicle.
They were immediately transported to a nearby hospital for treatment, while the damaged truck was handed over to the Akropong Police Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) for further investigations.

This incident marks the second crash at the same junction within two weeks.
On August 22, 2025, the Akropong Fire Station responded to a late-night accident involving a KIA Mighty II truck (registration number GN 3931-18) carrying about 50 bags of cement and other construction materials.

That vehicle reportedly lost control due to clutch failure while descending the Adukrom-Somanya road.
Rescue officers, led by ASTNO Jerry Kugblenu, managed to free the trapped driver, 47-year-old Ebenezer Nii Okai Gborbitey, who was immediately transferred to the Akuapem North Ambulance Service for urgent care.
Residents have expressed concern over the back-to-back accidents at the notorious Waterworks Junction, calling for stricter traffic management and engineering interventions to improve safety along the steep Adukrom-Somanya stretch.
