Former Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, has accused the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), COP Christian Tetteh Yohunu, of bias in the handling of arrests involving political figures.

He made the remarks in a Facebook post on Tuesday, September 9, following the arrest of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye.

Mr Nkansah compared the current leadership of the Ghana Police Service to that of former IGP Dr George Akuffo Dampare, claiming that under Dampare, suspects from both the NPP and NDC were treated equally before the law.

“Under IGP Dampare, people from both parties were arrested when they flouted the law. IGP Yohunu only arrests and posts NPP suspects on their page,” he wrote.

He further alleged selective justice in the police’s recent actions, pointing to the case of Alhaji Azorka, a leading member of the NDC.

According to Mr Nkansah, Azorka had openly attacked a political opponent, Buga, and threatened others live on television but had not been arrested. “Azorka is still walking free after attacking Buga and threatening others live on TV,” he argued.

Concluding his post, Mr Nkansah described the Ghana Police Service under IGP Yohunu as biased in favour of the NDC, sarcastically remarking, “NDC Police, keep it up.”
