The Director of Communications for the Bawumia Campaign Team, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has declared that the former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is the most winnable candidate to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) into the 2028 general elections.
Speaking on JoyNews’ AM Show, Mr Aboagye said the NPP has already begun the decisive journey toward selecting its flagbearer, and the feedback from the grassroots across the country shows that delegates are firmly leaning toward Dr Bawumia.
He emphasised that for the party’s base, the real concern is not the internal arguments or back-and-forth but the bigger goal of winning power in 2028.
“Beyond all the noise, all the chaos, all the back and forth, the NPP delegate has one thing in mind: let’s win 2028. So eventually, when he goes to the ballot, and he’s going to vote, all the things we have spoken about will not matter; only one thing will: who is it that is on this ballot that can win us power in the 1,184 days, that is, 2028, and that is Dr Mahamudu Bawumia,” he said.
According to him, Dr Bawumia’s campaign stands on three clear pillars that distinguish him from the rest of the aspirants.
He described the Vice President as the most prepared, the most formidable, and the most winnable among all the contenders.
Drawing on Dr Bawumia’s political record, Mr Aboagye highlighted his extensive experience over the past 16 years, including participation in five national elections, four as a running mate and one as a presidential candidate. He argued that this background gives him the strategy, resilience, and foresight needed for the battles ahead.
“He has run five elections in this country, four of which he was a running mate and one as the main candidate. He has the psyche and the mental fortitude to know what is ahead of us,” Mr Aboagye said.
He also took aim at the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), accusing it of consistently abusing incumbency without restraint.
He said the NPP requires a leader strong enough to face such tactics head-on, and Dr Bawumia is the one with the courage and experience to do so.
“The NDC is a very shameless political party. When they are abusing their incumbency, they have no shame; they are so raw. In terms of the kind of incumbency or government we are going to face, the party needs a leader who will be able to deal with this situation, and Dr Bawumia has been there,” he stated.
Mr Aboagye reaffirmed that Dr Bawumia is the best-positioned among all the aspirants to secure victory for the NPP in the next elections.
“Of all the aspirants, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is not only the most prepared and formidable, but most importantly, he is the most winnable of all of them.”
