The Obuasi Cricket Academy held its Pink & Blue Day on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at the Obuasi Cricket Oval.
The event aimed to raise awareness about breast cancer under the theme “Early Detection Saves Lives.” It featured free health screening and a women’s T20 cricket match.
Over a hundred participant from Obuasi and nearby communities took part in the screening, which included checks for blood pressure and other vitals.
The women’s cricket match added excitement to the day, showing the growing interest in women’s cricket in the area.
President of the Obuasi Cricket Academy, Rhyda Amanfo Ofori, said the event was about more than just sport. “We wanted to use cricket to draw attention to health issues that affect both men and women. Early detection can save lives, and we’re happy to play our part in spreading that message,” she said.
She added that the Academy hopes to make the event a regular part of their community calendar. “Our goal is to combine the love of cricket with positive social impact. Each year, we want to reach more people and encourage them to take their health seriously,” she added.
The day ended with smiles, laughter, and a renewed sense of community as participants left reminded that both sport and health are vital to living well.
