Ghanaian highlife singer and songwriter Gilbert Otoo, known as Gilly & The Stars, has released a new album titled Gamashie Highlife Tunes.
The seven track project is named after the historic Ga Mashie area in Accra and is rooted in traditional Ga culture. It blends original compositions that reflect Ghanaian street life with emotional storytelling.
The album is anchored by songs such as My Dear Adjeley and Christie. It also includes three versions of the hit Ye Oshia Sane (Dzi Wo fie Asem): the original, a jazz version and an instrumental. The song carries a message about respecting personal boundaries.
Gilly is noted for writing in English and in Ga and Twi. He remains committed to projecting his Ga heritage beyond Ghana. His sound brings together native rhythms with modern influences to preserve and refresh the Highlife tradition.
Gilly & The Stars says he created the album for Ghanaians everywhere, with the aim of lighting up dance floors across the world and showing the beauty of Ga Highlife music.
