Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, George Opare-Addo has urged parents to support their daughters to pursue their ambitions, saying girls are equally capable of excelling in every field.
Speaking to Joy Learning TV at Plan International Ghana’s Girl Takeover initiative in Accra, he encouraged parents to give their daughters the same opportunities as their sons, adding that women have consistently proven their ability to lead and succeed across all sectors of society.

“Whatever your male child can do, your female child can do and even do better,” he said.
“Over the years, any time women have been given the opportunity to lead, they have excelled in science, entrepreneurship, business, and even farming, areas that were traditionally dominated by men,” he continued.
The minister also sent a message of encouragement to young girls, urging them to take advantage of the enabling environment being created by government initiatives.

“This is your moment to shine. The environment is right. You have a government that believes in your ability. Take advantage of it,” he urged.
He assured that the government will continue to make the environment more supportive for young girls but called on them to be proactive.

“Government can do as much as it can, but the rest falls on the individual herself. We will do our best as a government to see that the door is wide open, but they will have to take advantage of the opportunities we are creating,” he emphasised.
